He works for the government and lives here during the week, but also spends much of his free time with his family at their other home in The Hague. In practice, this means he is usually at work during the day, often has dinner at his family home, and comes back here in the evenings.

For internationals, this creates a comfortable balance: the security of having a local Dutch host in the apartment, combined with plenty of independence and privacy.
